The role requires 1-3 years of experience in custodial work, hospital facility maintenance, environmental services, or housekeeping, with days shift patterns from morning to afternoon. Location is within hospital facilities, involving independent team work. Certification in Environmental Services or Healthcare Cleaning like CHEST or CHESP is preferred, supporting ongoing safety procedures and waste handling protocols.
Responsibilities
- Perform floor care tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, waxing, and shampooing various flooring surfaces
- Collect, remove, and properly dispose of waste, including biohazardous, infectious, and noninfectious materials
- Handle and process soiled linens, replacing them with clean bags and ensuring proper containment and storage
- Clean and sanitize patient rooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas
- Respond to spills and contamination cleanups, ensuring proper disinfection and safety precautions
- Move furniture, floor mats, and other equipment as needed for cleaning, facility maintenance, or department relocations
- Monitor cleaning supply usage, practicing appropriate expense control and ensuring all supplies are stored and used safely
- Communicate maintenance and repair needs to the supervisor or facilities department
- Maintain accurate cleaning logs and reports completed tasks, ensuring proper documentation
Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience in environmental services, housekeeping, custodial work, or hospital facility maintenance
- Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, and floor care techniques
- Ability to safely handle biohazardous and infectious waste in compliance with infection control standards
- Familiarity with equipment cleaning, maintenance, and proper usage
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow cleaning schedules effectively
- Knowledge of hospital policies, regulatory standards, and safety procedures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced healthcare setting
- Good communication skills to interact with staff, patients, and visitors
- Certification in Environmental Services or Healthcare Cleaning such as CHEST or CHESP preferred
