Identifying and mitigating risks across a $450-plus project portfolio safeguards city assets and minimizes liabilities in construction activities. The role implements policies for risk transfer and retention, advising on bonding and insurance with public sector best practices. Reports provide timely communication on threats and opportunities in horizontal and vertical projects.

The City of New York maintains the NYC Department of Design and Construction, managing complex portfolios including billion-dollar projects across five boroughs. They face challenges with aging infrastructure, security, and resiliency, utilizing tools like CIPs for quality. Advisors to general counsel on risk evaluation.

Responsibilities include analyzing project risks, producing reports, developing CIP policies with external agencies, documenting constraints, and recommending solutions. Work integrates risk management in procurements and contract administration, involving prequalification feedback on contractors. Interactions with operations, procurement, and counsel groups occur frequently. A challenge is standardizing bonding requirements without uniformity in diverse projects ranging from $10M to $1B.

Requirements
