Agriculture Workers Full Time Mid-Level From $34,000
Cleveland, Ohio, United States

Job Description

Hatchery processors support Cobb's poultry rearing by grading chickens, administering vaccinations, operating treatment robots, trimming toes, and performing dubbing and spur removal. These activities ensure the preparation of chickens for downstream farming and market readiness. Processing occurs in a regulated environment where animal welfare guidelines prohibit ownership of any avian species to maintain health standards.

Cobb, part of Tyson Foods, focuses on grandparent stock production for the poultry industry. Their operations emphasize biosecurity, reproductive efficiency, and genetic selection. With farms in multiple continents, they supply breeding stock to commercial operations worldwide.

Tasks include grading and vaccinating chickens, operating robots for beak treatments, using a toe trimming machine, dubbing and despurring males, operating a box washer and macerator, adjusting work schedules as needed. Employees maintain clean facilities by operating hoses, managing foot pans and sanitizers, packing chickens into boxes, and washing containers. Work settings involve wet, slippery surfaces, varying temperatures, and use of tools like scissors, knives, and machines. Protective equipment such as safety glasses, goggles, shields, gloves, aprons, and boots is mandatory when handling formaldehyde or disinfectants.

Starting hourly wage is $17.00, with shifts from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, averaging 35 hours per week. Compensation includes health, dental, and vision insurance starting day one, disability coverage, telehealth, well-being programs, retirement plans, paid life insurance, education discounts, incentives like rewards and bonuses, paid time off, holidays, overtime, and leave.
