Job Description
Interpreting ADA standards and building codes assesses accessibility compliance in city buildings, guiding the creation of front-end planning reports. The role reviews client needs through surveys and meetings, ensuring compatibility with federal and local regulations. This helps initiate projects with accurate evaluations of ADA elements like entrances and pathways.
The City of New York oversees the NYC Department of Design and Construction, focusing on public buildings and ADA compliance across the five boroughs. Daily work involves surveying existing buildings for ADA features, participating in interagency meetings with consultants and DDC staff, and reviewing outside design consultants' work. Requirements
- Permanent in Architect title or reachable on exam lists #3040, #5009
- Valid New York State Registration as an Architect
- One year experience as major contributor or project leader on complex project in past three years for higher levels
