Job Description

This position checks product quality during aerospace manufacturing by using inspection equipment like micrometers, dial bore gauges, internal and external thread gauges, sine plates, and indicators. It ensures accurate production by reading blueprints, interpreting geometrical tolerancing, and maintaining records including Material Certifications, First Article Inspection Reports, and IMS documents. The role solves defects by collaborating with suppliers and trains staff on inspection methods.

Triumph specializes in thermal and fluid management solutions for aircraft, engines, weapons pods, cruise missiles, avionics, and electronic systems, serving commercial and military markets.

Daily tasks include operating tools such as micrometers and borescopes, handling chemicals and solvents, and documenting findings. Reporting occurs to production technicians or supervisors, with interactions involving internal customers and external suppliers. A key challenge involves lifting up to 50 pounds and working in environments requiring sit, stand, and move operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assures product quality by using inspection equipment properly
  • Maintains quality documentation including Material Certifications, First Article Inspection Reports, and Inspection Method Sheets
  • Reads and interprets aerospace blueprints and geometrical tolerancing
  • Has knowledge of inspection measurement equipment such as micrometers, dial bore gauges, thread gauges, and indicators
  • Performs inspection that may involve chemicals and solvents
  • Solves problems by working closely with suppliers
  • Contributes to team effort
  • Trains inspectors when required
  • Complies with company policies and regulations

Requirements

  • High School or Technical School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associates Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Technology preferred
  • 5+ years in quality inspection/manufacturing (final, source, in-process inspection) in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of geometric tolerancing, gages, micrometers, borescopes, and measuring tools
  • Problem identification and resolution skills
  • Experience with quality management systems compliant with AS9100
  • Knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection Report requirements preferred
  • Ability to apply geometry and trigonometry to solve problems and calibrate equipment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
