Job Description
Building autonomous electric vehicles, this intern role optimizes manufacturing processes like line balancing, providing training, ensuring quality and production rates in driverless future transport. You set up stations, resolve issues on shop floors with SAP MES and Ignition systems, or design packaging to minimize costs in warehouses, honing skills in process optimization, sequencing, workflows, task analysis, layouts for safe, sustainable mobility.

Intern tasks include assisting line balancing in Process Engineering, training technicians, maintaining rates, supporting tasks in Systems Engineering, troubleshooting MES issues, optimizing logistics for inventory accuracy, building practices, designing protective packaging. Interactions with mentors, teams, one constraint being relocation to Bay Area for 12-week internship in summer 2026, with academic standing requirements.
Monthly salary $6,500 to $7,500, varying by location, education. Work in Bay Area, California, full-time summer commitment, housing stipend. Benefits include medical insurance, relocation assistance based on eligibility.
Responsibilities
- Assist in manufacturing processes focusing on line balancing
- Set up stations, provide training, ensure quality and rates
- Support regular production tasks, provide process assistance to technicians
- Act as first line contact for manufacturing systems issues on floor
- Learn SAP MES and Ignition system development
- Optimize warehouse operations, ensure inventory accuracy
- Build best practices, design packaging to protect products, minimize cost
Requirements
- Pursuing B.S., M.S., or advanced degree in engineering or related
- Return to school after internship
- Good academic standing
- Available for 12-week summer (May/June 2026)
- Prior industry internship, co-op, or project
- Willing to relocate to Bay Area
- No proprietary info use in university work
- Understanding of manufacturing process optimization principles
- Ability to assist in work instructions and procedures
- Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems
- Strong analytical, thinking, organization, communication skills
- Experience in automotive industry (bonus)
- Experience in manufacturing/engineering (bonus)
- Experience with MES, SAP or ERP (bonus)
