Motorhands perform maintenance on drilling equipment like generators and pumps to avert downtime, ensuring continuous rig operations. They contribute to energy production efficiency in natural resource settings.

Activities include conducting rounds to inspect equipment for vibrations, assemble tools for repairs, transfer fuel and oil per regulations, relieve floorhands on drills, operate forklifts to move pipes and tubulars, and perform problem-solving with mechanics. Use of Personal Protective Equipment occurs daily, interacting with rig managers, drillers, and derrickhands. A significant challenge involves lifting items up to 115 pounds while adhering to 12-hour shifts on rotating schedules.
Location requires work on drilling rigs. Schedule includes 7 or 14 consecutive days on, alternating with off periods, including holidays and holidays. Benefits include health savings accounts, retirement plans, and training in venue-specific certifications.
Responsibilities
- Perform regular preventative maintenance on generators, engines, air compressors, water systems, and pumps
- Anticipate problems by looking, listening, and feeling equipment
- Analyze and solve issues to keep mechanical equipment operational
- Transfer fuel and oil safely in compliance with state and company rules
- Assist Mechanic with repairs exceeding expertise
- Supervise Floorhands and Derrickhand during rig setup and teardown
- Operate forklift to unload, backload, relocate pipe and tubulars
- Provide relief on the drill floor
- Perform essential Floorhand duties when needed
- Troubleshoot with Rig Manager
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 months experience as a Floorhand for Nabors or 6 months for another company
- Ability to complete Motorhand training at Nabors training center
- Ability to wear respiratory protective devices
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the rig
