Job Description
Registered Behavior Technicians in Training implement ABA plans for autism and IDD students, collecting data on 10-20 interventions daily to support skill acquisition in school settings. Roles apply positive behavior strategies under BCBA guidance. Workers monitor crises using PMT de-escalation in 219-day academic calendars.

Technicians follow BIP instructions for 50+ incidents weekly, entering progress in tracking systems like Excel, and conducting preference assessments. Equipment includes behavior timers and PMT techniques; collaborations involve BCBAs, educators, and caregivers for meetings. Staff substitutes in residential shifts, constrained by varying schedules and de-escalation needs during community outings.
No compensation specified. Locations center Cromwell Academy with community travel. Flexible 219-day schedules total 37.5 hours weekly plus weekends. Benefits encompass agency-approved crisis training, CPR certification, and PMT levels. Development includes supervision evaluations and competency assessments.
Responsibilities
- Implement individualized behavior support plans
- Apply positive behavior strategies in classrooms
- Collect and record behavior data accurately
- Assist with functional behavior assessments
- Participate in supervision with BCBAs
- Monitor and redirect behaviors using approved techniques
Requirements
- Current RBT certification through BACB
- High School Diploma and ParaPro Certification
- Minimum 1 year experience with behavioral challenges
- Experience in residential or special education settings
- Proficiency in ABA principles and PBIS preferred
- Prior leadership experience preferred
- Familiarity with CT regulations
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license and clean record
- Must complete certifications like CPR and PMT
