Job Description
In this role, you oversee Virtual Design and Construction processes to optimize project phases using software like Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D for road grading and site models. The position ensures teams deliver designs through platforms that manage survey data and communicate with field personnel to improve construction efficiency.
Mortenson builds and develops in markets like sports, renewable energy, data centers, and healthcare, acting as an engineering, procurement, and construction firm with expertise in complex projects. Tasks involve planning VDC processes through software for modeling corridors, profiles, and grades, working with survey data via Trimble Business Center, managing BIM/VDC tools for 4D planning and 3D coordination, documenting processes to enhance standards, and training team members. You interact with project staff, clients, and subcontractors using office spaces, file servers, and communication tools. A challenge is maintaining flexibility and confidentiality in ever-changing environments while handling multiple tasks.
The base pay ranges from $89,500 to $120,800 annually, with higher ranges in locations like Denver or Chicago, work at Mortenson project sites with occasional travel, full-time schedule requiring valid driver's license, and benefits including medical, dental, retirement plan, paid time off, employer-paid life insurance, no-cost mental health support, tuition reimbursement, adoption assistance, and gym discounts. Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and oversee VDC processes using specific software platforms
- Work with survey data and communicate designs to project field teams
- Provide point of contact for construction team on VDC processes and reports
- Document work processes to improve company standards
- Assist in training on VDC and BIM/VDC processes
Requirements
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent
- Proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, and ArcGIS software
- 4+ years related experience
- Survey data knowledge preferred
- GIS data management skills a plus
