Job Description

This full-time position involves loading and unloading donations from trucks into a warehouse using forklifts and computers for scanning. It sorts materials into categories like textiles for recycling, bales goods, and maintains the site. The role supports environmental and social progress by processing textiles in nonprofit textile collection and recycling operations.

Planet Aid collects and recycles used textiles to protect the environment and fund development in impoverished communities. It positions itself as a nonprofit focusing on finite resources, waste reduction, and sustainable use. Projects encompass global environmental and social programs through textile donations and repurposing.

Work includes moving pallets, bins, or luggage with forklifts, operating forklifts safely, storing carts, emptying containers, and responding to production needs. Interactions involve assisting transportation, using propane or electric forklifts, and performing tasks with personal protective equipment. A challenge is lifting up to 50 pounds while following safety standards and policies in a warehouse setting.

Compensation is $20 per hour. The site operates in a warehouse environment with full-time hours. Responsibilities

  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, bins, or trucks
  • Assist warehouse in the scanning of cart information into the computer system
  • Properly bales materials and donated goods
  • Responsible for maintenance and proper storage of equipment
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment to ensure that the warehouse is accessible and safe for employee traffic
  • Empty carts and sorts material into categories

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent years of experience in place of diploma
  • Min. 1 year of experience as Material Handler I in PA, or 2 years of experience in warehouse operations as a material handler
  • Ability to warehouse machinery safely and efficiently, including forklifts
  • Physically capable of performing the essential duties of the job and lifting up to 50lbs
  • Ability to understand written and oral job instructions; Ability to follow all safety standards and policies
