Job Description

Resolving challenges in water resources helps communities maintain reliable water systems for drinking, irrigation, and environmental needs. Interns in this role support engineering teams by assisting with planning, designing, and constructing water infrastructure projects. They conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to address specific water flow and management issues.

Interns operate under the guidance of experienced engineers, executing calculations, drafting figures, and producing technical documents. They utilize AutoCAD software for design work and GIS for spatial analysis. Field activities include overseeing construction sites, collaborating with environmental science teams on interdisciplinary tasks, and participating in client meetings. Adapting to diverse responsibilities in a 40-hour summer schedule presents a primary challenge.

Hourly compensation ranges from $21 to $26, adjusted based on education level and experience, with statutory insurance provided. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Junior or senior level in civil or water resources engineering bachelor program or recent graduate within 1 year
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD or similar software and GIS
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work on a team
  • Strong problem-solving and math skills
