Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for surgical procedures and operating room
- Work side by side with scrub nurses to maintain sterile field
- Assess patient condition and address needs before and during surgery
- Work with physicians and anesthesiologists to develop care plans
- Ensure sterile fields are not compromised during procedures
- Remove instruments and sponges as used
- Ensure patient safety during procedures
- Keep precise documentation throughout procedures
- Dispense supplies and medication as needed
- Handle specimens and special apparatus

Requirements
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
- Current licensure to practice in the State of Texas
- Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support Course
- ACLS required and PALS preferred
- Two years experience in perioperative nursing preferred
- Knowledge and experience in PACU nursing or critical care
- Knowledge and experience in ASC, operating room, or ASC nursing care
- Competence in age-specific patient care
- Ability to set priorities and direct others for efficiency
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to correlate clinical data with care
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to transcribe physician orders accurately
