Job Description
This job supports physician care at a critical access hospital by preparing patients for exams and assisting with procedures like injections and lab tests. Patients gain efficient visits with accurate health histories logged into electronic medical records. The approach uses medical terminology for provider orders, performing tasks such as venipunctures and reviewing charts ahead of appointments.
Franklin County Medical Center operates as a non-profit facility with 20 acute care beds, 35 nursing beds, three operating rooms, and a 24,000 square foot medical office. Recognized as one of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals for four years, it serves southeastern Idaho communities with advanced technology and serves as the largest employer in Franklin County.
Routine duties involve obtaining patient histories, assisting with in-office procedures using tools like stethoscopes and syringes, and communicating test results over phone lines. Workers use electronic medical records for documentation, stock supplies in exam rooms, and sterilize equipment after use. Interactions include aiding providers with patient education on diets or lab prep. A challenge is frequent lifting up to 30 pounds during patients moves or bending for repetitive tasks, requiring physical stamina in a 40-hour weekly shift with Saturday coverage.
