Patients undergoing cardiovascular procedures rely on experienced charge nurses to lead complex care in cath labs. Care team leaders guide multidisciplinary teams in delivering diagnostic and interventional treatments, integrating advanced technologies like TAVR and MitraClip. Leadership roles involve providing clinical care for acute patients, leading daily operations, coordinating staffing and flow, and collaborating on quality initiatives. Nurses work with teams in structural heart interventions and ablations, using ICU-level skills and cath lab experience. On-call duties include weekends and holidays with 30-minute response times. A key challenge is managing a fast-paced environment with required ACLS certifications and a minimum two-year cardiac cath lab experience.
Full-time 100% FTE on day/evening shifts during operational hours from 6:00am to 7:00pm, with on-call requirements. Primarily at University Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. Responsibilities
- Provide expert clinical care for acutely ill patients while serving as a trusted clinical resource
- Lead daily operations as charge nurse, supporting patient flow, staffing, and care coordination
- Collaborate with leadership on hiring, patient experience initiatives, shared governance activities, and quality improvement efforts
- Work with cutting-edge technologies and therapies, including structural heart interventions, TAVR, MitraClip, ablations
Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing Preferred
- 2 years experience in an inpatient unit Required
- 2 years of combined work experience and leadership experience may be considered in lieu of experience Required
- 3 years experience in an acute care inpatient unit Preferred
- Relevant RN experience with department-specific patient population Preferred
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Required
- Current CPR/BLS certification Required
- Cardiovascular Laboratory- ACLS within 180 Days Required
- National certification in relevant specialty Preferred
