Job Description
The position evaluates ML models for generating maps and evolves formats for automation at Waymo. This supports safe autonomous driving with high-resolution world maps. Engineers build backend infrastructure for storing and processing map data across global scales.
Waymo creates mapping systems combining automatic and manual techniques. The team collaborates with onboard groups to distribute maps impacting perception and planning domains.
Work involves launching ML models from raw data, applying statistical analysis to changes, and scaling systems for world coverage. Interactions with onboard teams handle formats and validation. A constraint is owning end-to-end problems in data processing with tools like TensorFlow and C++, using frameworks like Google Data Flow or Apache Beam.
Compensation ranges from $204,000 to $259,000 USD based on education and skills. The full-time role includes bonuses, equity, and benefits covering health and wellness. Locations are across US sites with flexibility.
