Workers craft grant proposals for nonprofit funding to support housing and services for homeless adults.
Downtown Emergency Service Center serves nearly 3,000 people daily with integrated housing and treatment programs as a Seattle-based nonprofit.
Employees write proposals using Microsoft Office and Instrumentl, report on outcomes via Salesforce, and manage deadlines for 20-25% of responsibilities each in writing, reporting, and stewardship.
Positions involve synthesizing program data from multiple departments and working independently to meet funder guidelines.
40-Hour hybrid workweek with remote and Seattle office options.

Responsibilities
- Write grant proposals and LOIs for foundations and corporations
- Translate program data into narratives aligned with mission
- Collaborate on refining language and narratives
- Ensure proposals meet funder guidelines
- Prepare reports with data from program teams
- Gather metrics, financials, and updates for reports
- Coordinate budget documents and summaries
- Support stewardship through communication and updates
- Maintain Instrumentl and Salesforce systems
Requirements
- Commitment to DESC’s mission and equity-based fundraising
- Minimum 2 years professional experience in grant writing
- Demonstrated success in writing funded proposals for private foundations or corporations
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and donor databases
- Ability to synthesize complex information
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently in fast-paced environment
