Job Description
MRI technicians set up and oversee magnetic resonance imaging scans for research teams supporting diplomatic missions. They ensure protocols are followed accurately, producing detailed brain images that inform studies on neurological conditions. Technicians manage equipment in remote settings, safeguarding data integrity to protect research outcomes and patient privacy.
International SOS Government Medical Services provides comprehensive healthcare and security solutions to organizations operating globally. The company manages over 800 medical sites in 92 countries, including freestanding facilities and telemedicine services. Specializing in contracted support for government defense and civil agencies, International SOS delivers rapid deployment for emergencies and research initiatives like those with Johns Hopkins on behalf of the US Department of State.
Technicians travel internationally within 72 hours of notification, conducting scans using GE, Philips, Siemens, Toshiba, or Canon systems. They observe procedures, download images onto USB sticks, and deliver data securely. Workers maintain supplies and equipment during journeys, submitting vouchers promptly after returns. They complete compliance education for certifications and handle additional duties as assigned. A key challenge involves rapid deployment to austere environments, requiring experience in contrast-enhanced scans and placing PIVs. Technicians interact with local staff at facilities, ensuring protocol adherence without direct machine operation when permissions restrict access.
Compensation ranges from $60 to $65 per hour for this PRN travel role requiring worldwide availability and a valid US passport or permanent resident card. Benefits include medical, dental, vision coverage, basic life insurance, a 401K plan, paid time off, and annual bonuses.
