Job Description

IT Enterprise App Operations interns at National Heritage Academies focus on identity and access management systems, maintaining SSO services with Active Directory to secure technology for over 100 charter schools across nine states, ensuring students and staff access educational resources safely.

With operations in nine states, National Heritage Academies manages 100+ charter schools, emphasizing transformational education through community care and skill-building for lifelong success.

Interns build scripts for identity management using PowerShell and IIS, execute web testing, assist with integrations, and cross-train on security protocols, supporting team development while generating reports. They work in-person at the Grand Rapids office, collaborating with diverse departments.

Paid at $20 per hour for 40 hours weekly, this internship runs mid-May through early August in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with business hours from 8am to 5pm. Includes scheduled events with leaders, formal growth programs, presentations, and AI tool usage for augmentation.

Responsibilities

  • Part of a team that develops and supports single sign-on (SSO) systems and services including Active Directory
  • Will learn about user role and permission management along with integration and automation
  • Assist in continuous improvement of our identity systems
  • Opportunity to cross train with our information security team
  • Build and maintain custom developed scripts and systems to support Identity management

Requirements

  • Working towards a degree in computer science or related field
  • Knowledge and experience with programming/scripting
  • Ability to write test cases and execute testing in a web environment
  • Experience with Active Directory, ADFS, SSO, SAML, PowerShell, IIS preferred
  • Technical knowledge of Identity Management/Infrastructure preferred
  • Communicates well one-on-one, in small groups, and both verbally and in writing
  • Achieves results and utilizes resources appropriately
  • Maintains a high level of organization and time management
  • Adapts to dynamic and rapidly changing environments
  • Demonstrates a passion for delivering exceptional service
