Job Description

Operators run special purpose machines and NC centers to shape metallic and nonmetallic parts. They read blueprints, align jigs, cut tools, attachments, accessories, materials, and attachments to hold dimensions. This work supports fabrication that meets oil and gas industry standards, reducing downtime in upstream operations.

Forum Energy Technologies produces equipment for crude oil, natural gas, and renewable energy. The company operates with facilities in Houston, TX, and serves global energy markets from reservoirs to refineries.

Workers review prints, attach fixtures, select tools like mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, shapers, and punch presses. They operate CNC mill, CNC lathe, manual mill, brouch, drill press, rework lathe, and press lathe with intermediate skills on four machines. Staff measure parts, adjust offsets, stamp engrave, notify supervisors, deburr, complete documentation, check QC tools, proof programs, edit, and operate forklifts for shipping. They collaborate with supervisors, teams, and manufacturers, but strict safety protocols limit access to confined spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Review print and work order
  • Attach fixture to machine and secure part
  • Position tools per setup instructions
  • Input program or program machine
  • Operate machine to produce part
  • Measure work piece and adjust offset
  • Stamp or engrave necessary information
  • Notify supervisor or lead of nonconforming product
  • Deburr part as necessary
  • Complete work order documentation
  • Check calibration on QC instruments
  • Proof program and edit
  • Optimize tooling and programs to increase production
  • Operate forklift as needed

Requirements

  • Intermediate advanced skill on at least four machines
  • Ability to read blueprints, safety rules, operating manuals
  • Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Ability to apply algebra and geometry concepts
  • Safety sensitive position
