Job Description
The afternoon phlebotomist conducts donor venipunctures for plasma collection, producing vital medicines for rare disease patients. Employees operate plasmapheresis machines for blood component separation, prime sets, monitor donations, manage reactions, and troubleshoot equipment within scope. Recording vitals like pulse, blood pressure, temperature via electronic questionnaires, finger sticks for hematocrit, protein, weight, using Donor Information System for entry. Coordinating floor access and compensation through Debit Card, stocking supplies, with evening hours till 7:30 PM requiring stamina. Takeda provides a starting wage of $18.00 hourly, per state minima. Responsibilities
- Greet donors entering and exiting donor floor
- Perform venipuncture of donors and programming of plasmapheresis machine
- Monitor donors during donation process and manage donor reactions
- Handle setup, verification, operation, and troubleshooting of plasmapheresis equipment within training scope
- Install, prime, and disconnect disposable sets on plasmapheresis machines
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to walk or stand for entire work shifts
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Capacity to lean, bend, stoop, crouch, and reach above shoulders or below knees
- Fine motor coordination, depth perception, and ability to hear equipment from a distance
- One or more years minimum experience in customer-facing role
